Why is kiln-dried wood more expensive than seasoned?

Kiln-dried wood is more expensive because it undergoes a special drying process that removes moisture to a precise level, resulting in a more efficient burn.

This extra drying step means less smoke, longer burn times, and higher heat output. While it costs a little more upfront, kiln-dried wood offers better performance, longer-lasting heat, and fewer emissions, making it a better long-term investment.

Have you ever found yourself heading to your log store more often than you'd like because the wood you’ve bought burns too quickly? With kiln-dried wood, that’s a thing of the past. Your stove or fire works more efficiently, as very little energy is wasted evaporating water. The result is easy-to-light, easy-to-burn logs with high heat output—exactly what you need for those chilly winter days.

You might think you’re getting a good deal with seasoned wood, but kiln-dried wood lasts far longer and provides much more heat. Any wood with moisture levels above 20% produces a smoky, inefficient fire that’s not nearly as effective at keeping you warm.
